I guess science wins, as it helps improve the physical world by creating more efficient ways to do this or that, create better medicines, etc. But literature is very important too. It helps us learn how to read – no chance of being a scientist if you cannot read – and allows us to adopt the points of view of other people, which helps develop empathy. This is very important. Reading can just be plain old fun too, and we all need some of that. Why not read some science fiction literature!?
I don’t like these ‘arts’ vs ‘science’ questions. Sure, science may save someone’s life but literature and science are not completely opposite things. They will regularly feed into one another and they are both important. Literature and the arts also play a large role in mental health and there are numerous therapies using scientific methods and artistic tools to help people which are being used / developed.
