Really good question. I like to take the blame away from the individual and say that it isn’t the individual’s fault that they become ill – it is the characteristics of the job.
So in answer to your question, what we have to do (and this is what I try to do) is change the characteristics of the job – if we can change these characteristics (e.g. have fewer demands on our time) then we can make sure that fewer people become ill.
