We have to go through rigorous ethical approval, we’re trained in appropriate methods to deal with distressed people, my questions are worded in a way that should not cause more distress, plus there is common human decency in that I always make sure they feel well enough to go on, offer breaks, allow them to stop, and comfort them if they do get upset. I always make sure theyre well enough to go home at the end of the interview.
