About the Mental Health Zone

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological and social well-being and affects how we think, feel and act.

Mental health problems are extremely common and can be developed at any stage of a person’s life, ranging from depression and anxiety to rarer problems such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

In this zone you will meet five psychologists working in different areas of mental health.

One is studying why people listen to so much music and why they like what they like, one is making a treatment for people who are in hospital after hallucinating when they have used ‘witchcraft’ and another is helping to stop work making people ill.

One psychologist is studying whether not getting enough sleep could lead to people seeing things that aren’t there and another is researching the best ways to help people stop smoking.
